The Global Fund is an international body based in Geneva that fights AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria. Its boss is Peter Sands. America was the largest single donor to the fund, contributing through PEPFAR, though that contribution is now capped at 20% of total contributions (down from about 33%). In the 2025 fiscal year the fund received an estimated $1.3bn from America, down from $2.3bn the year before.
On July 9th 2025 the Global Fund announced a deal with Gilead, the maker of lenacapavir, to offer the injectable HIV prophylactic to 2m people within three years.
To get something done, a committee should consist of no more than three persons, two of them absent.
