Abdulkader Husrieh is the governor of the Central Bank of Syria. He is overseeing the bank's efforts to stabilise the currency, manage reserves and reconnect the country to the global financial system after the fall of the Assad regime. Under his leadership the bank is preparing to introduce inflation-targeting over the next three years, supported by improved data and greater central-bank independence. He has called for exchange-rate unification, the rebuilding of Syria's banking sector along Basel principles, and the creation of investment vehicles—including infrastructure bonds and diaspora-focused funds—to channel capital into reconstruction.
