Denys Shmyhal is a Ukrainian politician who has served as both prime minister and defence minister, regarded as a safe pair of hands. In late 2025 he was one of two candidates to replace Andriy Yermak as presidential chief of staff after Mr Yermak was forced out over the Energoatom corruption scandal.
