Laura Boldrini is an Italian politician from the centre-left Democratic Party and a former speaker of parliament. She championed a bill redefining rape as any sexual act without "free and current" consent, which would bring Italy in line with much of the rest of Europe. The lower house passed it unanimously, but Matteo Salvini's League subsequently withdrew its support, stalling the bill in the Senate.
