Mariana Enriquez is an Argentine writer of gothic and horror fiction. Her story collection "The Dangers of Smoking in Bed" was shortlisted for the International Booker prize in 2021. Her long-standing English-language translator is Megan McDowell.
Her first work of non-fiction translated into English, "Somebody Is Walking on Your Grave" (2025), chronicles her visits to 21 of the world's most interesting cemeteries, from Highgate in London to Rottnest Island in Australia. Her fascination with graveyards began in 1997, aged 25, at the Monumental Cemetery of Staglieno in Genoa, Italy.
