Former leader of Australia's Liberal Party. Led the party into the May 2025 election, in which the Liberal-National coalition suffered its worst result ever, winning only 40 seats. Mr Dutton lost his own seat. Voters saw him as negative and out of touch with modern, multicultural Australia. His flirtation with Trumpism—stoking culture wars and praising Donald Trump—backfired. He was succeeded as Liberal leader by Sussan Ley.
As long as war is regarded as wicked, it will always have its fascination. When it is looked upon as vulgar, it will cease to be popular.
