President of Guinea-Bissau from 2020 until his arrest in a military coup in November 2025. He came to power following a disputed election, after which the army occupied state offices before his inauguration. He dissolved parliament following an alleged coup attempt in 2023 and ruled without a legislature thereafter. The cocaine trade flourished under his tenure.
