Chinese entrepreneur, known by his nickname "Wing". He owns Wingtech, a holding group that was placed on America's Department of Commerce sanctions list. In 2019 he acquired Nexperia, a Dutch semiconductor firm headquartered in Nijmegen.
In 2020 Wingtech set up a chip foundry in Shanghai, which ran into financial problems. Dutch executives at Nexperia claimed Mr Zhang was trying to divert cash from the company to prop up the foundry. In September 2025 Nexperia's chief financial officer and two other executives found their access to company accounts had been revoked.
In September 2025 the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs took control of Nexperia under a cold war-era law, and an Amsterdam business court suspended Mr Zhang as CEO a week later. He had reportedly frustrated negotiations on guaranteeing Nexperia's independence from his Chinese companies.
