Anders Fogh Rasmussen was prime minister of Denmark from 2001 to 2009, and served as NATO secretary-general from 2009 to 2014. He dates the "fundamental change in mindset" in Danish foreign policy—from semi-pacifism to eager participation in American-led military operations—to the first Gulf war in 1990-91, when Denmark sent a warship to enforce a UN blockade of Iraq.
Mr Rasmussen has warned of a shift towards a world order "where the big powers make the decisions and very often over the heads of smaller and weaker neighbours".
Rasmussen Global is a consultancy founded by Mr Rasmussen. Its chief executive is Fabrice Pothier, a former NATO head of policy and planning.
