In the 2026 primary Mr Markey leads his challenger Seth Moulton, who is 47, by 16 points, despite widespread voter sentiment in favour of younger candidates. He secured early endorsements from Elizabeth Warren, his fellow Massachusetts senator, and various trade unions.
