Finance minister of Greece and the former architect of the country's digital transformation. As digital minister under prime minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis from 2019, he was given authority to move whole IT departments from other ministries under his control, enabling Greece's scores on digital public services to rise from among the worst in Europe to about average between 2018 and 2024.
He has advocated for completing the European single market and aligning EU regulation with digital-era growth priorities. Under his watch, Greece retained 25% of its 5G-auction proceeds to establish a special fund investing in companies building 5G-enabled applications.
