Ukraine's prime minister, an associate of presidential-office chief Andriy Yermak. She replaced Denys Shmyhal as prime minister in July 2025. Previously Ms Svyrydenko served as economy minister, in which capacity she oversaw the formation of Energoatom's supervisory board, and as deputy prime minister.
She estimated that Ukraine would require $50bn in foreign support for 2026 and sought to increase defence spending to 2.8trn hryvnia ($68bn). She has asked the IMF for a new bail-out to replace the $16bn package set to expire in 2027.
Ms Svyrydenko has said Ukrzaliznytsia, the state railway, had received $310m in ad hoc funds from the state budget in 2025, and would get another $382m the following year.
